The purpose of third year studio is to provide students with experience designing in a sustainable approach. Students will develop capability with the design process for developing technical solutions by employing the fundamental processes associated with sustainable and innovative solutions. They will use the skills and knowledge acquired in designing an architectural design project.
- Student exposure to problem situations and sample design briefs with flexibility to accommodate the actual needs.
- Student access to space that can accommodate a wide range of production activities,
- Distribution of clear instruction concerning the design process/procedure guidelines
- Distribution and explanation of appropriate evaluation criteria to the students for the course and design activity.
- Distribution of design portfolio guidelines and management strategies.
- Development of a plan to manage the design process.
- Development of design team development and maintenance strategies.
- Development of a clear time line for students, specifying completion dates for each phase of the process.
Students are required to design a space in Narlıdere District, on an empty abandoned site.
The space is to fit the specific needs of the local community that best fits, the identity, functionality, and site conditions. Concept idea shall evidently show the experimental and spatial quality. Students are also to consider how design is to be attached and harmonize with existing buildings and urban space. Additional consideration should also be given to human scale and dimensional requirements.
